Poly clinic Islamabad started evening OPD Services

Poly clinic Islamabad, the second-largest hospital in the federal capital, started its evening outpatient department (OPD) services again on Saturday after a two-year break. This made the emergency room 70% less busy.

Because of Covid-19, the service ended in 2020 because it put too much stress on the hospital staff.

In the past few years, Poly clinic Islamabad was the only hospital that offered evening OPD. However, during Covid-19, the service was cut off because there were too many people with coronavirus. Last year, the hospital tried to start an evening outpatient department (OPD), but it failed because staff and resources were not managed well.

But Dr. IU Baig, who was just named Executive Director (ED) of Polyclinic, chose to start the evening OPD again. The most senior person working at the hospital is Dr. Baig, who was named ED on September 29 by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

There are also now free mammograms at the hospital for women aged 40 and up to check for breast cancer.

It’s important to note that Poly clinic Islamabad opened in 1966 as the Central Government Hospital as a pioneering services hospital. It had just eight beds for emergency care, surgery, medicine, and gynaecology. The goal of this hospital was to give free medical care to people who work for the federal government. There are currently more than 600 beds set aside for primary, secondary, and tertiary therapeutic care for people who work for the federal government.

It has been decided that all poly clinic islamabad specialist doctors will be in the emergency room from 2pm to 8pm to give the best care to emergency patients.”

Over 1,000 people used to go to the emergency room in the evening, but since the evening outpatient department opened, that number has dropped to about 300. Other people with minor problems like coughs and fevers have been going to the evening outpatient department.

The medical, surgical, Paediatric, dental, ENT, eye, physiotherapy, and imaging wards would all be open in the evening.
