Many of the conversations about this possible game are about what kind of setting it might have. The time of the Old West was pretty much over by the end of Red Dead Redemption (2010).

That’s not too far away—only two years—but Rockstar is already working hard on Grand Theft Auto 6 and hasn’t even confirmed that Red Dead Redemption 3 might release. Fans hoping for a 2026 release should be ready to have their hopes dashed.

The game mechanics of both series should represent this.
