Barrister Gohar and Sher Afzal Marwat

Barrister Gohar and Sher Afzal Marwat both arrested. Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and Sher Afzal Marwat, a member of the National Assembly (MNA), were arrested by police in Islamabad on Monday after a sitting of the National Assembly.

Latest News reports said that there were a lot of cops outside of Parliament House waiting for the event. As the leaders of the PTI left the building, cops quickly positioned themselves to arrest Marwat.

A fight is said to have broken out between Marwat’s followers and the police while he was being arrested. But the cops were able to surround and arrest the MNA. They also took his car and left the scene of the crime.

While Sher Afzal Marwat was being arrested against his will, Aamir Dogar, another PTI leader, left the Parliament House without any problems.

Sources say that Sher Afzal Marwat was arrested because he broke the law at the gathering last night.

Some of the violations are getting in the way of the agreed-upon route, breaking promises, attacking Islamabad police, going beyond the allowed times, and giving anti-government talks.

From inside the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, we know that Advocate Shoaib Shaheen was also taken to his office by police.

At the same time, PTI leaders Aamir Dogar and Ali Muhammad Khan left Parliament House without any problems.

After Sher Afzal Marwat was arrested, a number of PTI leaders and lawmakers chose to stay in the Parliament building. Since then, Barrister Gohar, Zain Qureshi, and Waqas Akram have come back to the building.

The cops have said that they will also arrest Zartaj Gul and Omar Ayub.

Sources say that PTI leader Zartaj Gul avoided being arrested by lying to the police while sitting in the back seat of a car. A PTI spokesman confirmed this claim.

This happened just hours after police in Islamabad filed three cases against the PTI leadership for not ending last night’s gathering on time, throwing rocks at police officers, and not following the planned routes.

Sangjani Police Station

After the PTI held a public meeting at Islamabad’s Sangjani, the cases were filed under the Public Order and Peace Act.

The first case was filed at the Sangjani Police Station because the protest went on longer than it was allowed to.

At the Sumbal Police Station, a second case was opened because the person in charge of leading convoys through Sadaat Colony and the Srinagar Highway was not following the allowed route.

Noon Police Station

The third case, which was made at the Noon Police Station, is about throwing rocks at police officers, including the senior superintendent of police (SSP) for Safe City and other officers.

Police say that the prosecution has been put together and that 28 local PTI leaders have been named in the cases. These leaders include Sher Afzal Marwat, Zartaj Gul, Aamir Mughal, Shoaib Shaheen, Omar Ayub, Seemabia Tahir, and Raja Basharat.

The prosecution also says that PTI workers attacked police with rocks and sticks after being stopped for not following the rules. As a result, 17 workers were arrested after officials used tear gas.

Earlier today, federal ministers Attaullah Tarar and Engineer Amir Maqam said that people who went to the opposition’s recent protest were forced to take part. They claimed that the opponent was luring attendees to their event by use of immoral strategies.

At a news conference in Islamabad, the ministers voiced criticism on the opposition. They particularly called out Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Chief Minister for using nasty language during the demonstration.

Yesterday, after a long break, Imran Khan’s troubled party finally held a gathering in Islamabad. There were fights with the capital’s police, which hurt dozens of police officers and PTI workers.

The government had given the PTI permission to hold a public meeting in the city on Sunday.

But in preparation for the gathering, they turned Islamabad into a walled city by blocking all the roads that connect it to nearby Rawalpindi with shipping containers. Over 6,000 police and Frontier Constabulary (FC) officers manned the routes.

The Metro Bus service between Rawalpindi and Islamabad and the Green and Blue Line bus services within Islamabad were all stopped. Trains coming into and leaving from Islamabad and Rawalpindi were also late.

Every hotel, motel, and store near the meeting site was also told to close by the police station in charge.

Interestingly, Marwat said last month that he would personally plan all future protests and gatherings and would take full responsibility if anything happened like what happened on May 9.

He made it clear that he would make all future plans on his own, without asking Imran Khan, so that he would be the only one responsible for any consequences.

Marwat promised to lead peaceful protests again and asked PTI supporters, especially students, lawyers, and farmers, to join the movement against the present political situation.
