After being beaten up and cut several times on July 7, Gilaman Wazir, who was 29 years old, was taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) hospital, where he died earlier today. In a moving speech to supporters gathered outside the hospital, Manzoor Pashteen, the leader and founder of PTM, announced Wazir’s death.
“The attack on PTM leader and poet Wazir in Islamabad is deeply distressing,” Sammi Deen Baloch wrote on X. The attempt to kill Gilaman is strongly criticized. We want this event to be thoroughly looked into so that those guilty are caught and punished. Our thoughts and prayers are with him that he gets better quickly.
Before, the US chapter of PTM said in a statement that Gilaman Wazir should be moved from Pakistan to Germany for medical care, saying that this was a highly important step for his survival and proper care.
