Philadelphia, PA (CBS) – Following Thursday night’s 125–114 win over the New York Knicks, Sixers center Joel Embiid said that he had been treated for Bell’s palsy. Embiid got 50 points in Game 3 for the Sixers, which was the most in his playoff career.

He made 50.4% of his shots from the field, 34.1% from three-point range, and 82.6% from the free throw line.

Embiid was born in Cameroon and mostly played volleyball and soccer as a child. In 2011, he was at a camp when former NBA player Luc Richard Mbah a Moute saw him and encouraged him to play high school basketball in the United States. He went to The Rock School in Gainesville, Florida, and played in both the Jordan Brand Classic and the Nike Hoops Summit. Later, he got a basketball scholarship to Kansas University.

“The Process” won the NBA’s regular season scoring title in 2021–22, becoming the first seven-footer since Shaquille O’Neal in 2000 and the only player from outside of the United States to do so. He was the third 76er to do so, after Wilt Chamberlain and Allen Iverson. He was the first center since former 76ers Moses Malone to average more than 30 points per game for a full season (1982), with an average of 30.6 points per game. He did it again the next year, getting 33.1 points per game.
