A video of two jackals being killed and skinned in the hilly area of Khuzdar started going around on social media.

People killed jackals for their skins in the mountains of Turandian in Khuzdar’s Bagbana Tehsil. A video shows people skinning the animals, who were killed for a few rupees, said Muzammil Khan, Technical Advisor for WWF Pakistan, who was angry about the event.

“The deputy commissioner of Khuzdar must take swift action against those responsible for this wildlife massacre,” he asked.

The Pakistan Wildlife Foundation is also upset about how the jackals were brutally killed.

Iqbal Mangi, a journalist from Khuzdar, told Express Tribune that there are a lot of jackals in the area where the deaths happened.

“There is a common belief among locals that jackal skins sell for a high price, which leads people to kill the jackals for their skins,” he said.

Officials said earlier this year, on January 23, that people in the area killed a rare white leopard on Monday night inside Kerthar National Park.

The Sindh Wildlife Department (SWD) moved quickly to take action and filed a case against five people who were involved in the killing.

People told the reporters that the leopard had been shot and killed. Photos of the killing went viral on social media, making people very angry.
