At the moment, OpenAI is blocking users from making explicit or otherwise inappropriate content on ChatGPT. Wired states that the business is looking into ways to enable ChatGPT to “responsibly” produce erotica in a new ModelSpec document.
In a dedicated “comment” section of the text, the author discusses how OpenAI is looking into possibilities for enabling the creation of such content on ChatGPT.
The document states: “We are exploring whether we can provide the ability to responsibly generate NSFW content in age-appropriate contexts through the API and ChatGPT.” This field’s models are eager to learn more about societal and consumer expectations around conduct.
Nudity and “extreme gore, and profanity” are also listed as NSFW in OpenAI’s model specification paper.
Whether OpenAI’s history of safely handling NSFW content will cause it to loosen its usage policy slightly—for example, permitting the development of erotic text or visuals of violence—is unclear. The addition of deterioration is made easier.
The representative from OpenAI refrained from discussing the specifics of the company’s investigation into the possibility of pornographically altering ChatGPT or the responses it has gotten thus far.
CTO Meera Murthy had previously expressed uncertainty over whether or not OpenAI will permit nudity on its AI chatbot in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.
