Their reporting has given the world important insights into the ongoing tragedies in Gaza, with Azaiza announcing his nomination on social media, expressing hope for peace in Palestine.
Prior to the war, Azaiza was recognised for portraying the daily life and beauty of Gaza, but he rose to notoriety by documenting Palestinians’ wartime difficulties.
According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, Israel’s continuous assault on besieged Gaza has killed over 40,405 Palestinians and injured 93,356.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee has received 285 nominations for the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize, comprising 196 individuals and 89 organizations representing a diverse range of peace advocates involved in conflicts around the world, including Gaza and Ukraine.
