New Delhi Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, has asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to step down.

Indian news sources in Kolkata say that Mamata Banerjee said Modi has lost confidence and does not have a clear majority. Narendra Modi should step down right away, according to Mamata Banerjee.

Indian media say that Modi got fewer votes in Varanasi than he did in 2019. He got 6 lakh 12 thousand 970 votes, while Ajay Rai, the Congress candidate, got 4 lakh 60 thousand 457 votes against Modi.

According to Indian reports, Modi won 674,664 votes in Varanasi in 2019. He defeated his opponent by over 1.5 lakh votes, which is more than 4 lakh higher than in 2019.
